​​​After qualifying as a Hairdresser I was introduced to a client with alopecia and quickly realised I knew firstly little about its causes and secondly how to help. This has led me to qualify in Indian Head Massage, Wig Services and Scalp Treatments. I have undertaken training from Wella in the use of a Nioscope to diagnose scalp problems and offer Nioxin treatments backed by the Wella 30 day guarantee. 

Along the way I learnt of 'The Wig Bank' set up in Perth Scotland by a breast cancer sufferer who found it both expensive and difficult to get wig advice. The lady called Agnes Lennox has since passed away but her legacy is a growing network of Wig Banks across the U.K. and I am proud to be part of such a worthwhile organisation.

The ethos of the Wig Bank is to take donated wigs, disinfect, wash, condition, repair and sell on. Starting from £20 for a short hair wig a 25% donation goes to an approved Wig Bank Charity. My chosen charity is the Severn Hospice who are now collecting wigs on my behalf. There are a number of projects the Wig Bank is getting involved with including some 'try on' pamper sessions with educational aspects explaining factors in choosing wigs styles and colours.

Wig Bank Shropshire is an important part of  'Hair Peace' where appointments take place in private consultation rooms above our sister organisation 'Anthony's Hair Studio' in Church Stretton, 2 mins walk from the public car park or short stroll from bus or train stops. Alternatively a private home visit can be made by agreement, (subject to distance).

The Wig Bank is always able to post out a range of wigs to try in the privacy of your own home if preferred.
